The Story Behind Claudia<\/h2>\n

In Saint-David, a small mountain town just north of Montreal, Canada, there used to be a curious little shop at a crossroads right beside a bike trail. To this day, I\u2019m not quite sure what to call it. It sold coffee, ice cream for children, and all sorts of magical odds and ends that could have come straight out of Harry Potter.<\/p>\n

\n

The woman behind the counter was even more wonderfully eccentric than the shop itself. The place had a magic all its own and was always full of children. That\u2019s where the idea for Claudia first came to me. And I promised that woman she would be the heroine of my book.<\/p>\n

\n

The little shop is gone now. An ordinary caf\u00e9 has taken its place, and I have no idea what became of the woman.<\/p>\n

Perhaps she went off to a frog farm?<\/p>\n

Meggie isn\u2019t just any dog. And she certainly isn\u2019t made up. Even my imagination couldn\u2019t have dreamed up Her Majesty Meggie. She\u2019s real. So are her big ears and her endless obsession with tennis balls. I\u2019ll admit, that obsession can get a little exhausting. Rain or snow, Meggie has no patience for excuses. <\/p>\n

\n

The ball must be thrown. And once she takes off after it, she doesn\u2019t let anything\u2014or anyone\u2014get in her way. <\/p>\n

\n

She loves absolutely everyone. Except cats. Our neighbor had about sixteen of them. I lost track long ago, but Meggie knew exactly who was who. I\u2019m convinced she knew them not just by sight, but by name. Nothing could get her worked up quite like a cat in the yard. Or in the street. Actually, any cat with the nerve to show up anywhere nearby. <\/p>\n

That\u2019s my Meggie. Beautiful, stubborn, and loved by everyone. She\u2019s the inspiration behind these books. I just wrote the stories down. Naturally, she had the final say.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/section>\n

When I was a little boy, I was afraid of the dark. Especially the basement of our old apartment building.<\/p>\n

Going down those stairs felt a bit like traveling to Mars. Except Mars probably had better lighting.<\/span><\/p>\n

Every shadow looked suspicious. Every strange noise meant something terrible was waiting around the corner. And, of course, my imagination was always happy to make things worse.<\/p>\n

\n

Years later, I realized something important: the scariest monsters are often the ones we create in our own minds.<\/p>\n

Why I Wrote These Books<\/h3>\n

I originally decided to write these books for the children of our parish\u2014and, thank God, we are blessed with quite a few of them!<\/p>\n

I wanted to introduce them to the beautiful stories of the Bible, stories that have been told and treasured for thousands of years. But I wanted to share more than just the stories themselves.<\/p>\n

\n

My hope was that children would discover something in them that still matters today\u2014courage, kindness, forgiveness, faith, and hope. Values that have stood the test of time and that we may need now more than ever.<\/p>\n

\n

And I had one more wish.<\/p>\n

I hoped these books might also reach children who haven’t yet heard much about God or Jesus. I wanted them to see the Bible not simply as an ancient book filled with stories from long ago, but as a fascinating world they could step into, explore, and perhaps take something meaningful from into their own lives.<\/p>\n

Because I believe a good story can touch anyone’s heart. And the stories of the Bible still have so much to tell us, even after thousands of years.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The smell of food lures him out of the forest and into a little town, where he meets a young girl named Leona. But she isn\u2019t frightened of him one bit. She thinks he\u2019s just an ordinary stray dog and decides to take him to Grandma\u2019s house. The wolf is so surprised that he doesn\u2019t even put up a fight. He obediently trots along behind her. His stomach is growling something fierce. And that smell\u2026 His mouth is already watering!<\/span><\/p>\n

Grandma is making pancakes. What a lovely surprise! But a full plate isn\u2019t the only thing waiting for this wolf. There\u2019s also a bath\u2014and a few more surprises that life in the forest certainly hasn\u2019t prepared him for.<\/span><\/p>\n

I wanted to introduce children to a different kind of wolf. Not the scary creature they know from traditional fairy tales, but a funny, slightly clumsy character who finds himself on an unexpected adventure.
